Tinybeans Private Family Album App revisa

XXX

Love Love Love

Used to be great, but now it’s impossible to use.

Like a lot of software companies, they think they’re improving their software, but they make it harder to use every time they do a new release.

Nice idea, it’s gotten too expensive.

I don’t mind ads, but having a twenty photo limit on the free plan is really lame. Every couple of years, they change their policy and it’s reached a point that it is far too expensive. I’m moving all my moments to a personal blog. I’ll really miss the ease and convenience of Tiny Beans, but their policies have priced me out. I’ve used Tiny Beans for six years, I’m really sad to leave. Every company is jumping on the subscription model train and something has got to give. I’d much rather have the option for a lifetime one-time fee. But as far as I can tell, even that isn’t an option anymore.

Glitching

Price is expensive and the app is more glitchy than ever.

Great app

We have used tiny beans since the birth of our niece. 7 years ago and we use it for our two kids now. We love being able to share photos with everyone! The only thing I would change is if you aren’t the account owner you have a limit on how many photos you can upload at a time so my husband and mother in law always run out and can’t post anymore photos.

Nice way to see the kids grow

I really enjoy seeing the photos uploaded to this app.

I wish I could but I can’t

My brother, and my two cousins all used TinyBeans dating back between 2016 and 2021. Over 9,000 photos between 5 children, my family LOVED this app. Focus on the past tense. I just had my first child and was so excited to share the photos the same way with my family, but now it costs $75 a year to share more than 20 photos a MONTH. I took more than 20 photos the first day my daughter was born. I am very sad about this but my child will have photos shared on a different app than her cousins.

Love it but Glitchy

We’ve used this app for almost 5 years and since the payment requirement change, it’s very glitchy. You can only add a message on one photo at a time even if uploading multiple. So then you have to back to each individual photo and edit. If I wasn’t already so many years in, I would definitely look for another app. Additionally, it often shows photos have uploaded on my phone but then they don’t show up for others. Weird and glitchy. Odd especially for the financial investment.

NEW- Charging duplicate fees to post pictures in the New Tinybeans+ membership

We have been members and supporters of Tinybeans… until now. They have increased prices from 50 to 75 AND applied that membership fee to only 2 members!! So heads up grandparents, if you want to post more than 20 pictures in a month * You Also have to Pay and additional Membership fee* Do Not Recommend This App!!

Love / Hate

Used to love this app but for a very long time, after reporting many issues, there are a lot of problems that have not been resolved. It’s become more of a hassle to upload pictures.

Still broken app since Sep'23

Latest version as of 14 Jan 2025 seems to have fixed the issue with multiple uploads. It seems more stable that you don't lose the uploads. But still unfixed: 1. app freezes when going back to main menu 2. In multiple upload caption window, screen blanks out after typing a caption on the 1st media then scrolling down to caption the next media 3. Resorting and captioning after uploading are 90% not saved

Great way to share family moments

I love this app. We’ve used it to share pics of our kids with family since our first child 5 years ago. It’s nice to have an alternative to facebook or instagram and the app acts as a family photo album now.

Notifications 🙁too many

Frequent unnecessary notifications.

Good concept, but many functions of the app are broken.

I got this app at the behest of my family. The free version is just annoyingly limited enough to make upgrading to premium worth it (good job there I guess). Editing comments, personal info, and worst of all notification settings is a major PITA. I get an email anytime there is any activity on my account (likes, comments, etc). There is no way to change notifications settings in the app. The app doesn’t show up in the iOS settings menu to change iPhone notifications, and to top it off when I go to their website to change my email notification settings the webpage never loads. Also there is no way to turn off the ads from the developers (even after getting a premium subscription). If the developers can’t even handle basic functions I severely doubt that this app is a safe and secure place for photos of our children, which is the whole point.

Money grab

My son was born in May and have been using Tiny Beans to update friends and family. I have been able to upload as many photos/videos as I wanted. This month, I have hit a paywall. According to their recent responses to reviews addressing this change, it was a “glitch” and they want to keep it “fair.” Just another company gouging prices. They’ve definitely lost my trust. Extremely disappointed.

So frustrated!!

This app continues to have so many bugs and glitches despite all the “updates” that make the app worse! I spend so much time uploading and writing captions only for everything to continuously be deleted. I continue to post everyday because I love the concept and how the app used to be. It really went downhill! And for it to cost so much is absolutely absurd!

Keep Looking, Issues Too Often

I’m so sad because honestly, this should be the best photo sharing app out there but there are just too many problems with it. I swear every 6 months I have a huge issue that I have to email support about. They say we’re working on it, which they are and they do eventually fix most of it, but it’s so frustrating. There shouldn’t be issues uploading, that’s what this whole app is for. I spend a lot of time writing captions and uploading photos and too often it just stops and everything I did for that day is lost. We are tired parents, we don’t need to add difficult things to our lives. Not even to mention the outrageous cost. If I wasn’t already so invested I would run far, far away from this app. I can’t say I will continue to pay the fee, it’s way too expensive and then on top of that to have problems so often is just not worth it. I’m sad to say it, but keep looking. This is not the app you want.

Review

Needs memory tab updated. Hard to find memories. Expensive for what you get

Great app for sharing pictures with family and friends

The app is great for being able to limit who gets access to the pictures. Easy to use interface and straight forward on creating memories. Edit: uninstalled and reinstalled the app and issues seem to go away

Privacy and upload limit

Privacy: just check their website for businesses to see who the actual customer is. Upload limit: grandma visiting and wants to upload a good number of photos? You’re out of luck.

Kind of scammy

If I could do 0 stars I would. I have used this app for YEARS to follow my nieces then I had a child and started using it. All of a sudden I can only upload 20 photos a month or pay $75 a year?!? In this economy $75 is ridiculous. And they do it in the same month of Christmas so now I can’t upload all the Christmas photos I have to share with family out of state. I loved this app but now it’s just a scam and I will never recommend it again.

Tinybeans

I used to like the grid view but now it’s gone when you go to the grid view it’s just white and nothings there i wish it worked

They started charging

I have used this app for years and used to love it .. however recently the app started charging to upload pictures. Huge bummer. Now I’ll just be switching to iPhone shared albums and google photos to share these moments with our family and friends.

Love the app, but terrible communication

We’ve been using this app for years, and we love it. We even paid for the subscription. However, I’ve tried reaching out to the developers many times for various questions, including issues with the website when trying to take advantage of a Black Friday deal. No response ever. I was willing to continue paying for the subscription but changed my mind out of frustration that no one would respond to my emails.

Use to be great

I’ve been using this app for years. Truly never had a problem with it. Today I went to upload a photo and it said I have one more free upload for this month…when did that change! You get 20 free and then you have to pay.

Amazing

I couldn’t live without this site. I’ve posted every single day for 8+ years. I’ve never been that consistent at anything in my life. It’s my journal of my kids to look back on and family relies on it daily. Thank you!! Highly recommend. So reliable and amazing quality.

Was Great, then Not

I was loving TinyBeans, but felt very tricked! It says it’s free, BUT that’s NOT true. They only allow 20 photos uploaded for free. That’s not even a photo a day. They basically switch it on you one day! It’s a terrible business model and will be switching to a different sharing platform. Wish I would have read the reviews before I started using it. I would have picked a different one from the start.

Used to be great

We used to love this app when we started using it 4 years ago, but it has become very glitchy over the years, and the price increases have reached a point where we can no longer justify it when there are free options available and the functionality of the app itself is not great, even given that we have years of content on there. I’m sad to have to move away from it, but the 20 free uploads per month is just insufficient when you have multiple kids and want to share moments with many family members who live far away. It was great while it lasted.

Skips/Jumps when scrolling

These clowns have one job: an app that loads photos. And they can’t even do it. They don’t preload the photos and the result is a super jerky interface. The app literally doesn’t do anything else. How do you screw this up so bad??? Embarrassing for whoever is the developer.

Avoid like the plague

Ads keep locking up screens. Have two families with kids and the unit keeps freezing. Tiresome having to reboot iPad to access photos

Problem

Can’t see gallery photos

Became more and more money focused

I started using Tinybeans when they offered a free service. Now they force you to pay unless you only want to upload 20 photos a month. Such a shame they’d already added things like advertising to make money and now they charge the user, too. There are other similar apps for free so use one of those instead!

Loved it, glitchy now

I used to love it and my whole family follows it. However now I can’t get any of my photos to upload. Seems glitchy

Very glitchy for an $80 app

This is the only app I’ve ever paid for and i can’t believe all the glitches it has. It’s a fun concept and I like that it’s so private but our family doesn’t even get alerts when photos are posted anymore, videos take forever to upload, and every time there’s an update something else goes wrong.

Not functionally sound

It takes several minutes for pictures to load, sometimes they do not load at all. This is not a good user experience

Constant Error Codes

What’s going on? I can’t load pictures, it’s signed me out.

Shows black screens

Can’t edit anything or even delete account immediately after creating the account. Super buggy.

Limited to 20 photos.

Better off downloading family album!

Almost 5 stars

The concept behind this app is fantastic and our family loves seeing all the updates + commenting + interacting. There are two aspects holding this back from being 5 stars: 1) The subscription should be per-album and not per-account. I’d pay to have our baby’s album ad-free since the grandparents find the ads confusing and accidentally click on them, ruining the experience and taking them off the app 🙁 2) The Moments 🗓️ tab should be the default landing view instead of the busy Home feed. The calendar view is convenient for navigating the memories and sorting by date, and it’s more intuitive for older users (A nice-to-have would also be Dark Mode!)

App keeps crashing

I have been using Tinybeans since early 2021 and at first, I loved it so much! It was a great app and was designed in a simple format that was working great. Then they converted to a subscription model which is fine as I was hoping it would improve but the opposite happened. The app started crashing every time I would try to upload a photo. I kept raising issues hoping they would fix the bug but they never did! I would receive bunch of guidelines and follow it but never solved the problem. I stopped using the app for 9 months hoping it would be fixed (despite paying annual subscription) but no! I just tried using it and it crashed again… I got all the software updates etc so I don’t understand why this app that once used to be such a lovely app to use became just absolutely a nightmare. I recommend using Google Photos or other family photo sharing app.

Upgraded and still doesnt work

I pay the 7.99 a month, and the app still doesnt let me upload more.

Amazing - Using it for Years

Has become a journal for us and a way to share pictures with family in a more private way. Great UI and functionally and an awesome tool!

Uploading bug

I been using this app for 5 years and it has worked perfectly fine Whatever new update was added to change the way photos get uploaded needs to be fixed I can’t upload any photos right now. At first it was just really slow and annoying but now it’s just not working.

Tinybeans

The absolute best way to create a visual history of a child. Extremely happy with this product.

So disappointed in what this App has become

I really wish I knew what greed would do to this company when I started using their product. It used to be free, entirely, with minimal ads. Then they added a subscription fee. Now they’ve nearly doubled that fee. But that’s not even what really bothers me. It’s that they’ve made the ads on the app so intrusive, scammy, constant, and unavoidable on the free version that’s it’s basically unusable. So, what, anyone who I want to show photos to on the app now also has to pay $75 a year or they get a basically unusable product? A product I wouldn’t feel comfortable having my older relatives use for fear they’ll get scammed by an ad? It’s an embarrassment. It’s ugly what greed can do to a product.

Love / hate relationship!

I love seeing my family in this app. It’s generally easy to use. However…this app is overly permissive with my privacy, fails to offer a way to give app feedback and is relentless with notifications and asks to upgrade to a paid version. Even if I disable notifications the app harasses me to turn them back on. Will likely remove it and go for something like a skylight.

Falling quality for a great app

Our family has been a long time user of TinyBeans across multiple households to share scenes from every day life with close friends and family. So we’ve been subscribed and paying customers for years. The app used to just always work, until this last year, when buggy uploads, unsaved comments, and crashes became much more common. What’s most frustrating is that support never responds to inquiries, even when there are critical errors that prevent me from using the app at all. I really want to believe they’re using the new subscription fees to expand features and they’re working out kinks in development, as the decrease in quality would have made me cancel for any other service. Holding out in hopes they fix things up soon because it’s a great app otherwise.

Spendy with Aribtrary Caps

I am a Tinybeans subscriber ($75/year) and the fact that grandparents and other family members are capped to 20 uploads/month aggravates me to no end. (I know I can choose one other family member to be a subscriber but what about the others?) I think they expect every family member to spend $75 so they can have unlimited uploads? It seriously has me leaning toward switch to a shared Google photos album. The service is decent enough otherwise. It does what you expect it should do. It also tries to be a news/interest site that publishes articles which is niether here nor there for my family.

frustrated!!

Can only invite family members via email which is very confusing for my old grandparents who don’t understand how to get their email on their phone… Also have no idea how to set up more than one album for them ,when they have two great grandchildren (and one set up for the first baby). How do I add my baby when their account is connected to the other one?? Not very user friendly

Doubled subscription fee!

This app has been wonderful. Just got a notice they are now charging almost double from the previous year. It was $39.99, now is $74.99. I understand an occasional increase but that’s ridiculous.
